First of all, in last semester, my brief was to create (or)
portray my own version of character model by using different materials or using
unique techniques to create a character with strong purpose, (as if they are
alive – a living creature with personality attached to it and to show where
these characters will fit in certain roles or environment. Also, in the end, my
aim for future progress was to create more dynamic character designs, further
understanding of bone structures of creatures and progress of background + 3D
character.
However, there were pros & cons of this brief and aim I
have made.
Cons
1st – Weakness
of my sculptures which was it does not have solid structure due to lack of
using enough references
2nd – Too
vague or over textured the character which is another disadvantage of working
without knowledge/references
[3rd –
Spending way too much time in just sculpting which I have neglected the
environment part.]
But on the other hand,
Pros
1st – It
was an instinctive way of sculpting – (so) it was enjoyable & more creative
+ intuitive way which makes the sculpture with no boundaries.
2nd – Because
of this instinctive way of sculpting, there were infinite possibilities to
enhance the technical skills + boost the confidence using software.
Therefore, I scraped up previous work and started working basic sketches and attaining knowledge of human & animal anatomy, rather than continuing with sculpting just coming from my imagination.
